How would you rate your sleep quality lately, on a scale of 1 to 10? I will admit that I have been struggling hugely with my sleep over the past year or so. From restless nights to uncomfortable aches and pains in the morning, I have been desperate to find a solution to my sleep problems. This is where Simba, the award-winning, highly acclaimed and extremely well-reviewed UK mattress company come in. The lovely team at Simba kindly offered me the chance to try out one of their most popular products, the Hybrid mattress, and I jumped at the opportunity. I had been looking for a new mattress for a while as I knew it could help alleviate some of the back pain I experience due to a herniated disc, so I was looking forward to putting the Simba mattress to the test. After trying it out for over a week, I’m now very excited to share my Simba Hybrid Mattress review and answer the two all-important questions: is the Simba Hybrid mattress worth the hype – and the price tag? Keep reading to find out. The Simba Hybrid Mattress I am sure that you’ve all heard of Simba mattresses, after all, the sustainable, UK-based brand is extremely popular with the online community and has won countless awards for its innovative products. The Simba Hybrid Mattress, in particular, has gained a lot of hype online. But what’s got everyone so excited? The Simba Hybrid Mattress boasts many attractive features that set it aside from other mattresses. What makes this particular mattress so appealing is the innovative use of springs and foam that combine to create a supportive and comfortable mattress that helps to promote a great night’s sleep. 1,900 Aerocoil® Micro Springs Support Your Body, No Matter Your Size or Shape 1,900 Aerocoil® micro springs are used in the construction of the Hybrid mattress. Each of these tiny springs, which are completely impossible to feel, compress under the weight of your body. This compression helps to support your body and promote proper alignment. The Simba Hybrid Mattress also utilises these tiny springs to boost the flow of fresh air through the mattress and avoid motion transfer, no matter your body weight, size, or preferred sleeping position. The Simba Hybrid Mattress Has A Deep Layer Of Simbatex® Foam The Simbatex® foam used in the Hybrid Mattress has been designed to offer maximum comfort and support. Along with the springs, the sleep experts responsible for creating the Hybrid mattress have also seen to it that the foam helps to encourage airflow through the mattress for a cooling touch. This cooling feature is backed up by a layer of graphite which is known to dissipate heat, helping to ensure a better night’s sleep. Simba Hybrid Mattress Review After learning a little more about the Simba brand and reading some of the many, many 5-star reviews, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this sustainably made mattress. I placed my order and eagerly awaited its delivery. I didn’t need to wait long… Delivery, Packaging, And Setting Up The Hybrid Mattress After placing my mattress order, it arrived very quickly; I expected it to take a few days, maybe even a week, but it was with me in only two days. The Simba Hybrid Mattress comes vacuum-packed and rolled up into a box that was approximately half the width of the mattress. I ordered a king-sized mattress, and as I had spent the morning removing my old IKEA king mattress, I was surprised by the weight of the Hybrid. It was pretty heavy, much heavier than my old mid-range mattress, and I had to employ the help of my eldest son to get it upstairs. Once we had it upstairs we were able to open the box with ease. I was worried that we’d open it and the whole thing would spring out as a result of releasing the pressure, however, it was actually very easy to open and manoeuvre onto the waiting bedframe. I carefully cut the plastic wrapping away from the mattress and it immediately started to reinflate. It was at this point that I realised that not only was the mattress rolled up, but it was also folded in half. I did briefly worry that the springs would be damaged or that it wouldn’t inflate properly where the fold had sat, however, as the mattress began to reinflate, I could see that there were no ill effects from the way the mattress had been packaged at all. Along with the help of my son, I unfolded and unrolled the mattress and left it to do its thing. The instructions on the box were pretty clear, but if you need more structured steps, there’s a QR code on the packaging that guides you through the entire setup process. I probably wouldn’t have noticed this code if it had not been pointed out by the delivery driver, so kudos to him! There’s also a small leaflet included within the box. This explains how to care for your mattress and advises you on how often to turn – not flip – your mattress. Once you’ve got the mattress onto your bed frame and it’s started to reinflate, you’re pretty much done. The instructions say to leave the Hybrid mattress for at least 6 hours for it to fully inflate. It’s also advisable to cover the mattress with a mattress protector before making your bed. There was a slight smell coming from the mattress, I assume this is from the plastic wrap or the pre-cleaning process before Simba packages their mattresses. It’s not an unpleasant smell, it just smelt of “new”, similar to the “new car” smell. This is also noted in the leaflet, and it is explained that the smell will only last for 24 hours or so and, sure enough, at bedtime the next day, there was no smell left at all. Simba Hybrid Mattress Review – Is It Worth The Hype? Finally, it was time to test out the Hybrid mattress and see if it really was worth the hype, and the price tag. The first thing to mention is the firmness; the Simba Hybrid mattress is a medium-firm mattress, which is exactly what I need as I suffer from chronic back pain due to a herniated disc. My husband was initially unsure about the firmness when getting into bed, and mentioned that it would probably take him a few weeks to get used to it. However, about an hour later, he had completely changed his tune and I could see why. The Simba Hybrid Mattress was ridiculously comfortable and supportive! We usually spend the first half an hour of our bedtime getting in and out of bed to sort out the kids and the dogs, and our old mattress would dip at the edge every time we got out of bed, resulting in our thighs hitting the bed frame. The Hybrid mattress was so firm and supportive and didn’t budge at all, even when we sat at the edge of the bed. The Simba Mattress Hybrid also doesn’t dip when you sit upright in bed – something I’m very guilty of as I sometimes find myself working from bed, especially in winter as it’s the warmest place in the house! This was a big issue with our old mattress, as sitting up in bed created a dip in the mattress that put a lot of strain on my back and made for an uncomfortable sleeping space. So far, I have had no such issues with this mattress; even if a small dip does appear to be emerging, the mattress foam seems to sort itself out once you’re out of bed. The Simba Hybrid Mattress Review – Get Ready For An Amazing Night’s Sleep! When it came to getting some shut-eye that night, I can honestly say that I had the best night’s sleep I have experienced in years. I struggle with my sleep a lot, and use sleep patches regularly to help me drift off; I also get very hot and sweaty in bed, even on cold nights. The first night’s sleep on the Simba Hybrid Mattress was revolutionary. It was so insanely comfortable and I slept the entire night without waking up once. My back felt amazing thanks to the mattress’s 9 different support zones – they definitely helped to support my body whilst I slept and relieve any of the usual pressure my body was subjected to with my old mattress. I sleep on my side mainly, but I also sleep on my back from time to time, especially if I’m experiencing back pain or restless legs. All this moving about used to really annoy my husband as when I moved, the whole mattress would move and the motion transfer would interrupt his sleep. However, I’m pleased to report that my husband gleefully informed me that he no longer feels or even notices me move around at all during the night, which means we both get a better night’s sleep. We couldn’t stop talking about how awesome the Hybrid mattress was the next morning. My husband was so pleased with how comfortable and supportive the mattress is and how it’s so much better than he’d expected. Neither of us woke up feeling groggy, neither of us had aching muscles, and we both experienced a comfortable, deep, and restful sleep. And we have done every night since! Is The Simba Hybrid Mattress Worth The Hype and The Price Tag? Absolutely. 100% yes! I have been using the Simba Hybrid Mattress now for over a week and I have noticed such a huge difference in my day-to-day life. Firstly, I have a much easier time falling asleep. I haven’t spent hours staring at the ceiling or trying to get comfortable. This, in turn, has led me to have a deep, uninterrupted sleep and wake up feeling well-rested, refreshed, and energised. I have been experiencing more motivation and energy, which has meant that I’m being more productive, more patient as a parent, and generally happier in my everyday life. I hadn’t realised just how badly the effects of having bad sleep had been impacting me, but after having spent some time sleeping on the Hybrid mattress from Simba, it’s clear to see that getting better sleep has vastly improved both my mental and physical health. So if you are wondering whether the Simba Hybrid Mattress is worth the money, the answer is yes! I can find absolutely no fault with it at all and only have good things to say. In fact, when planning this Simba Hybrid Mattress review, I was trying to find something remotely negative to try and balance the review however, I found this to be impossible. Yes, the Simba Hybrid Mattress is pricey, especially if you’re looking for a King or Super King size, however, I would urge you to consider the Hybrid mattress to be an investment for both your physical and mental health, as well as your overall wellbeing. Simba offers a finance option for their mattresses which makes them far more affordable. Currently, a King size Hybrid mattress costs £899 and comes with free items worth £367: 2 FREE Hybrid™ Pillows worth £218 and 1 FREE Performance Mattress Protector worth £149. All of this could be yours from as low as £23.64 per month, based on 48 monthly instalments (pricing correct as of 27/02/25). In addition to all of this, Simba also offers exclusive discounts for young people, key workers, and charity workers.
